Trip to Madrid (Nov07)

CheeKian and Me posing in front of my poster titled 'Polypharmacy in an Asian Elderly Cancer Patient Population'. He has a poster too... something on GIST. We were at the International Society of Geriatric Oncology Meeting 2007 in Madrid.

The Royal Palace, Madrd. The weather was cold but sunny.

The Cybele Fountain. Cybele was the Greek goddess of farming and was wife of Chronos and mother of Zues. The sculpture of the goddess by Francisco Gutierrez shows her sitting in a carriage drawn by lion, which are the work of Roberto Michel.

Kai Han's 2nd Birthday (15th Dec07)

We celebrated Kai Han's second birthday in The Little Skool House. I got him a Cookie Monster Cake (2kgs) since it is one of his favourite Sesame Street Characters.

Kai Han was somehow distressed during his birthday celebration. He refused to pose for the photo shoot. His friends were eager to taste the cake and obediently posed for the photo. After six unsuccessful shots, we gave up and decided to remember this day as it was.

The AngPow Envelopes and posters I got from this year's chinese new year shopping

The Mickey and Minnie Mouse chinese tea cup set is from Compasspoint. They are the embassador this year because it is the year of Rat (and it will be ShaSha's zodiac sign!) I bought the 'tingkat' with pictures of little chinese babies on it, it can take up to nine types of chinese new year goodies (although I didn't buy much goodies to fill it up)

Mandarin oranges with the words 'ji' on them in my new red baskets and a sweet chinese newly weds clay dolls. Hope we will have a good and loving year ahead.

In preparation for Chinese New Year 2008

Our new sofa set (just arrived yesterday) with my favourite purple colour. I got ourselves new cushions, mandarin orange baskets and a 'tingkat' to contain chinese new year delicacies.

Kai Han aka Kai Kai aka Little Baby aka Hunny

He is the love of my life, more than anything in this world. When he first arrived and was put in my arms, it seems like the time has stopped. I could not think and could not feel anything. Tears just rolled from my eyes... I think this is what they called the tears of joy. I know this is the moment. My moment. It will stay in memory forever...

I named him 凯瀚, which means victory and greatness. I really want him to be someone who is great in whatever he does. More importantly, I want him to be a great person, it doesn't matter whether he is wealthy or not. CK and me like to call him Kai Kai cause that is how he calls himself. Sometimes I call him 'little baby' cause he will always be my little baby. My mom likes to call him Hunny (i.e. Han-ny) cause he is such a honey in her heart.

He's born strong headed. I knew it since the first few days of his life. He refused to latch on to my nipple for breast feeding because he knew that he can drink in abundance from a bottle tit, as compared to my breast. He likes to be praised and loved and resists punishment and accusation. Whatever it is, he is a very loving child. Often times, he will come and stare into my eyes and say 'hug hug', just wanting me to hug him tight (no hidden agenda).

This are some of Kai Han's milestones:

2 weeks -- cord dropped

5 months -- learnt to turn

6 months -- started eating porridge, first time going to a nanny's house

7 months -- could stand by holding on to furnitures, started crawling

10 months -- first steps

16 months -- first word 'car'

20 months -- started calling 'baba'

He is 25 months old now and he has a vocab of about more than 50 words but guess what? He can't call 'mommy'. He calls me 'ah bu' (when we are not even hokkien).

I regretted not starting to write a journal earlier to pen down his first 2 years of life but I guess it's never too late for anything.

I love you, little baby.
